Fighting Scots' Fall, 3-2, to East Stroudsburg in PSAC Home Opener

  • The Short Story: The Edinboro volleyball team played in its third-straight five-set thriller as they hosted East Stroudsburg in their PSAC home opener. The Fighting Scots were not able to complete a comeback as they fell, 3-2, to the Warriors. Senior Megan Screptock recorded her third double-double of the season while freshman Alicia Eldredge had a season-high 47 assists. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Warriors won the first two sets before Edinboro forced a deciding fifth set after winning the third and fourth sets, 25-15, 28-26, respectively.
  • East Stroudsburg won the first three points of the final set before a Warrior service error pulled Edinboro within two.
  • The Warriors went on a seven point run to pull ahead.
  • Edinboro pulled within five at 11-6 before ESU won the final four points for the 15-6 set five win. 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Cierah Jackson recorded a match-high 17 kills after being named the PSAC Northwest Athlete of the Week. The sophomore outside hitter added a pair of block assists.
  • Screptock had her third double-double of the season. She tallied 11 kills and 13 digs against the Warriors..
  • Eldredge had aseason-high 47 assists, marking the fifth time this season with 40-or-more assists this season. She also added seven kills and six digs. 
  • Freshman Sally Sterkel was the other Fighting Scot in double-digit kills. She notched 11 kills and a .259 attack percentage. She nearly missed out on a double-double with eight blocks.
NEXT FOR THE FIGHTING SCOTS
  • Edinboro is back in action on Saturday afternoon at home when they host Kutztown at 1:00 p.m. match. The Golden Bears and Slippery Rock went five sets in their match on Friday evening.
