  • The Short Story: A young and short-handed Edinboro team led by nine points at 40-31 at the half, but Gannon came out on fire in the second half and used a 16-0 run to pull away. The Golden Knights would score 59 points in the second half while posting their highest point total since the opening game. Edinboro's 79 points were a season-high against a Gannon team which was allowing 64.9 ppg. With just nine healthy players, Jaryn Simpson and Trey Staunch turned in brilliant efforts for the Fighting Scots.  Simpson finished with his third career double double and second straight, totaling 24 points and a career-high 11 assists. Staunch added his second career double double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Edinboro was unable to overcome a 42-26 rebounding deficit, and committed 14 turnovers, 11 of those in the second half. GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The early portions of the game was a back-and-forth affair, with Gannon opening up a seven-point lead at 18-11 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half, before Edinboro came back to a 22-20 lead on the strength of an 11-2 run.
  • Gannon regained the lead at 29-26 on a pair of free throws by Daniel Sapp. Edinboro responded with 12 straight points, as the Fighting scots held Gannon scoreless for almost five minutes. Jaryn Simpson's jumper started the 12-0 run, followed by Turner Kurt's layup to give the Scots a 30-29 lead. Kurt drained a 3-pointer, and fellow freshman Kameron King's second career 3-pointer made it 36-29. Trey Staunch powered inside for a layup with 1:04 remaining for a 38-29 lead. Victor Olawoye ended the run with a jumper, and Staunch scored on another layup for a 40-31 Edinboro lead at the half.
  • After scoring just two points in the first half, Olawoye would have a huge second half, and coupled with 11 turnovers and big Gannon advantage on the glass, Edinboro was unable to hold off the Knights.
  • Gannon shot 35.5 percent in the first half, but would hit at a 55.6 perxcent clip in the scond half, making 8-of-12 3-pointers. Olawoye made 4-of-5 3-pointers over the final 20 minutes and scored 21 points.
  • Edinboro boosted the lead to 11 at 42-31 on a Daylon Harris jumper to start the second half. The Fighting Scots still held an eight-point lead at 48-40 with 16:44 remaining when Gannon turned the game around. The Golden Knights went on a 16-0 run to turn an eight-point deficit into a 56-48 lead with 12:25 remaining.
  • Gannon would build its lead to 13 points at 66-53 with just under 10 minutes to play, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Jake Benhart and Kurt trimmed the deficit to 66-59.
  • Edinboro saw Gannon boost the lead to 78-64 with 3:26 remaining on Olawoye's layup. The Fighting Scots were done, however. Three straight layups by Staunch closed the gap to 78-70 with 1:53 to play. Joe Fustine's layup made it a 10-point deficit, and Edinboro's next two possessions resulted in a turnover and missed 3-pointer.
  • The Fighting Scots made it a seven-point game at 80-73 on Simpson's long three, but by that time just 36 seconds remained. Simpson would nail two more long three's, but Gannon made 7-of-8 free throws in the final 30 seconds.  They would
