GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Edinboro would miss its first seven shots before Jontay Walton drained a 3-pointer with just under four minutes left in the first quarter. That left the Fighting Scots trailing 8-6. They would not make their next shot until 4:32 remained in the second quarter, a span of more than nine minutes, when Michelle Jahn hit a jumper. While Edinboro was missing 14 straight shots, Gannon was going on a 17-0 run to take a 25-6 lead.
  • Gannon would maintain that 19-point lead at the half, 35-16, as the Fighting Scots went 4-for-27 from the floor (14.8 pct.). Gannon, meanwhile, shot 48.5 percent from the floor (16-of-33) and held a wide 27-13 advantage on the glass. The Lady Knights held a 24-4 edge in points in the paint.
  • Gannon built the lead to 23 points at 41-18 with 7:42 remaining before the Fighting Scots began a comeback. In less than two minutes, Edinboro outscored Gannon, 13-1, to pull to within 42-31. Michaela Barnes capped the run with a 3-point play.
  • With the margin still at 11 at 44-34, Gannon went on a 10-0 run and would lead 56-38 after three quarters.
  • Edinboro closed the gap to 11 points again at 60-49 midway through the fourth quarter. The next two possessions were a missed layup and turnover, and Gannon would build the lead back up to 15 on a pair of free throws and a layup.
  • The Fighting Scots whittled the margin to nine at 66-57, the closest since the second quarter, when Jahn made a 3-pointer. But by that time, just 1:46 remained. Those would be Edinboro's last points of the night, as Gannon went 5-of-6 from the line the rest of the way.
