BY THE NUMBERS
  • There were plenty of highlights for the Fighting Scots. For starters, Jontay Walton, a graduate student playing her third season at Edinboro, became the 28th women's basketball player to reach 1,000 points for her career. She canned a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 2:55 remaining in the game to boost her career total to 1,002 points. Walton ended the night with 17 points, adding 8 assists.
  • A year ago, Michelle Jahn joined the 1,000-point club in the playoff win over Cal. The senior guard moved into 20th place in career scoring on Wednesday night as she finished with 22 points, including a 10-for-10 showing at the line. She added 7 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. Jahn now has 1,212 career points.
  • Michaela Barnes continued her strong season as the junior guard led all scorers with 23 points. As has been her habit this year, she saved the best for last, with 14 points in the second half. She made 9-of-12 field goals. It marks the third straight game Barnes has scored 23 points.
  • Bridgette Shaffer notched a career-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-5 on 3-pointers.
  • Ciara Rosten was Edinboro's fifth player in double digits. The senior All-American had missed three games with an injury before playing 12 minutes last Saturday against Cheyney. She returned to the starting lineup against Cal, and flirted with a triple-double with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. She also played a huge role in limiting Seairra Barrett, the second-leading scorer in Division II, to 14 points.
  • After shooting over 53 percent against Cheyney, Edinboro had its best shooting performance of the season, with a 60.7 percent clip (37-of-61) from the floor. • The 99 points scored against the Wolves is the most points the Fighting Scots have scored this season. The last time they scored more than 99 was last season against West Chester in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament, 106-78. Edinboro scored 51 points in the second half, marking the fifth straight game the Fighting Scots have scored 50-or-more points in the second half.
