Quartet of Multiple Winners Pace Fighting Scots to Win over IUP in Season Opener

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro men's swimming team received first-place finishes from six different swimmers to spearhead a 102-91 win over visiting Indiana(Pa.) in the season opener for the Fighting Scots on Friday night. The Crimson Hawks are now 0-2.

In addition to the six winning swimmers for head coach Chris Rhodes' Fighting Scots, a total of five swimmers registered PSAC qualifying times. Edinboro would post first place finishes in seven events, with four different swimmers winning multiple events.

Nick Bradford, Jackson Bangert, and freshman Luke Edmonds took part in three first place finishes, while Ted Kinney, another freshman, was a double-winner.

Bangert would touch first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.69), the 200-yard medley relay, and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Bradford, meanwhile, was a winner in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.16), the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.93), and the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Rhodes' two freshmen standouts – Edmonds and Kinney – were on the 200-yard freestyle relay. Edmonds also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay, as did Noah Frederick and Michael Kocher, and won the 100-yard freestyle (48.32). Kinney claimed first place in the 50-yard freestyle (21.73).

Edinboro returns to the pool next Friday, October 25 at Tiffin.
