Burrelli Has Big Night in Loss at East Stroudsburg

  • The Short Story: Edinboro saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Thursday might with a four-set setback at East Stroudsburg, the preseason favorite in the PSAC Central. The Warriors extended their win streak to seven contests. The night started in  a promising manner, with the Fighting Scots winning 25-17. But the Warriors would control play the rest of the night, winning the next three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-15. Freshman Bella Burrelli paced the Fighting Scots in both kills (13) and digs (14). Cierah Jackson totaled nine kills, marking the first time this year the junior outside hitter did not reach double figures. She now has 921 career kills. 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING   
  • Freshman Bella Burrelli paced the Fighting Scots in kills (13) and digs (14). It was her fourth double-double of the season.      
  • For the first time in 14 matches, Cierah Jackson failed to reach double figures in kills, finishing with nine. It is also just the third time this year Jackson has not led the Fighting Scots in kills. She would add 10 digs and three service aces. Jackson boosted her career kills total to 921 career kills, ranking 12th all-time at Edinboro.
  • Alicia Eldredge totaled 26 assists, while Molly Breier had 13 digs and freshman Erica Sharp contributed three total blocks.
  • Edinboro hit .008 for the match, while East Stroudsburg came in in at .137. The Warriors had 11 service aces compared to 5 for Edinboro, and the Fighting Scots had 13 service errors, while ESU had 5.
