Jackson Leads Fighting Scots to 3-0 Win at Kutztown

  • The Short Story: Edinboro earned a split of its two-match eastern swing with a three-set win at Kutztown. Edinboro prevailed by identical scores of 25-21 in the first two sets before winning the final set, 25-23. One night after failing to reach double figures in kills for the first time this season, Cierah Jackson finished with 16 kills and a season-high .538 hitting percentage. The junior outside hitter now has 937 career kills. Edinboro has now won five of its last six matches. 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING   
  • One night after hitting .008 against East Stroudsburg, Edinboro had a .282 hitting percentage, including .469 in the third set. The Fighting Scots also had 11 service aces to just 3 for Kutztown.           
  • Cierah Jackson led Edinboro with 16 kills, two off her season high. The junior outside hitter had a season-high .538 hitting percentage. She added 7 digs and 3 block assists. Jackson boosted her career kills total to 937 career kills, ranking 12th all-time at Edinboro.
  • Freshmen Bella Burrelli and Erica Sharp added 9 and 8 kills, respectively. Burrelli had 9 digs and 6 service aces.
  • Alicia Eldredge totaled 37 assists and 4 service aces, while Molly Breier had a team-high 16 digs. Paige Morris contributed 4 block assists.
UP NEXT   
  • Edinboro will make the trip up I-79 to face local rival Gannon in a PSAC West match on Tuesday, October 8. The Lady Knights were picked to finish first in the Western Division in the coaches' preseason poll. The match gets underway at 7:00 p.m. at the Hammermill Center, and will be the first of three contests next week.
