Chatten Scores Twice as First-Place Fighting Scots Shut Out Seton Hill, 2-0

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Danielle Chatten scored a pair second half goals to lead Edinboro to a 2-0 win at Seton Hill on Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Scots are now 7-2-1 overall and 7-0-1 in PSAC action. Seton Hill fell to 4-6-0 and 4-4-0, respectively.

Edinboro remained in first place in the PSAC West and is enjoying one of the hottest streak in team history. The 2013 team also went 7-0-1 in an eight-game stretch. The Fighting Scots are ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll.

Chatten has been on a hot spell, as well. The senior forward had not scored a goal in the first five contests, but over the last five matches she has found the back of the net four times.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, with Edinboro holding a slight 10-8 advantage in shots. That would change over the final 45 minutes, as head coach Gary Kagiavas' squad dominated play with 15 shots to just a pair for the Griffins.

Chatten would give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead at 49:29, as she beat the defender to the edge of the box, then shot it into the top right corner. Just over thirteen minutes later at 62:58, she boosted the lead to 2-0 off a pass from Rebecca Manns. She took Manns' touch pass through the defense and her shot went around the goalkeeper into the corner of the net.

Edinboro would hold a 25-10 advantage in shots, along with five corner kicks to two for Seton Hill. Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Voelker finished with seven saves while recording her third shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Seton Hill's Elyza Pilatowski-Herzing totaled 11 saves.

Chatten now has 21 career goals, moving into 11th place all-time, and she is 12th in career scoring with 57 points. Manns now has 14 career assists to move into sole possession of 13th place.

Edinboro plays the middle game of three straight road contests on Friday, October 11, heading to Erie to face Mercyhurst at 7:30 p.m. It signals the start of the second half of conference play. Edinboro prevailed in the first meeting, 2-1, on September 23.
