GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A tight first half featured five ties and four lead changes.  Edinboro would takje a 12-11 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Turner Kurt, but a 9-2 run gave Slippery Rock a 20-14 edge.
  • The Rock would eventually take its biggest lead of the half at 26-18, but Edinboro ran off the next nine points. Jaryn Simpson started the run with a jumper, followed a pair of free throws by Trey Staunch. They were Edinboro's only free throws in the half. Slippery Rock was also 2-for-2 in the first half. DeAnthony Owens's 3-pointer pulled the Fighting Scots to within one at 26-25, and Daylon Harris' jumper in the paint with 6:41 left gave the Scots a 27-26 lead.
  • Slippery Rock answered with the next four points for a 30-27 lead, but Kameron King's 3-pointer knotted the score at 30-30. The two teams would go back and forth until Owens' dunk with six seconds remaining gave Edinboro a 37-36 lead at the half.
  • Edinboro would not trail throughout most of the second half, with Slippery Rock managing to tie the game 51-51 and 53-53. Leading 54-53, the Fighting Scots would go up seven at 60-53 on the strength of six straight points – a Jack Frank tip in, free throws by Alex Jay and Kurt, a Staunch's layup.
