The Short Story: Edinboro recognized four seniors as part of Senior Day against Indiana(Pa.). The contest marked the final home game of the regular season for
Michelle Jahn,
Ciara Rosten,
Allison Thompson, and
Jontay Walton. The Fighting Scots got off to a slow start in the first quarter, as IUP scored the first 11 points of the game. The Fighting Scots trailed 21-10 after 10 minutes but had a strong showing from
Michaela Barnes, who scored nine of her game-high 21 points in the period. Edinboro tallied the first four points of the second quarter, coming to within seven points at 21-14. IUP would build its lead back up to double digits for a 42-21 lead at the half. Any chance Edinboro had coming back to within single digits went away, as the Crimson Hawks scored the first 12 points of the third period and led by double digits the rest of the way.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- IUP scored the first 11 points of the contest, before a Michaela Barnes jumper at the 5:33 mark of the first quarter put Edinboro on the board.
- The Fighting Scots trailed 21-10 after the opening period, but the 5'5" guard accounted for nine of Edinboro's 10 points in the frame. She scored on a jumper, laid in a basket, drilled a 3-pointer, and converted two free throws.
- Monica Brown and Ciara Rosten laid in back-to-back layups for the first points of the second period. That brought the Scots to within seven points at 21-14.
- Following a pair of free throws by Barnes with under six minutes to go until halftime, the Crimson Hawks built its lead back to double digits. IUP used a 12-0 run, to go up by as much as 20 points.
- Edinboro went into halftime trailing 42-21. The Fighting Scots shot 24.1 percent from the field, against an IUP team, who ranks fifth in Division II in field goal percentage defense (33.9 pct.) and sixth in scoring defense (52.8 ppg.).
- IUP prevented Edinboro from cutting the lead back to single digits early in the third quarter, as the Crimson Hawks scored the first 10 points of the frame. A Jontay Walton 3-pointer ended the 10-0 run, but Edinboro would trail by double digits the rest of the way.

- Edinboro finished the game shooting 31.1 percent (19-of-61) from the floor, to go with 6-of-23 3-pointers and 16-of-19 free throws. Indiana(Pa.) connected on 55.7 percent (34-of-61) of its baskets, including 12-of-23 3-pointers and 8-of-10 free throws. The Crimson Hawks are one of the top defensive teams in the country. They rank fifth in Division II in field goal percentage defense (33.9 pct.) and sixth in scoring defense (52.8 ppg.).
- IUP edged Edinboro on the glass, 38-34, and led 38-26 in points in the paint.
- Michaela Barnes scored 20+ points for the sixth straight game. The junior led all players with 21 points, shooting 6-of-15 overall while making 1-of-2 3-pointers and going a perfect 8-for-8 at the foul line.
- Allison Thompson, one of four seniors recognized prior to tonight's contest, led the Scots on the glass with six boards, in addition to scoring six points. The contest marks the 5'11" forward's first game in nearly a month.
- Monica Brown provided an instant impact off the bench for Edinboro. The freshman guard finished with season-highs of five rebounds and three steals.
- Six Crimson Hawks scored in double figures. Lauren Wolosik paced IUP with a team-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-of 6 from long range. She led all players with eight boards, to go with five assists. Carolyn Appleby also went 5-of-10 from the field, contributing 13 points and a game-high six dimes. Brittany Robinson added 14 points, while Natalie Myers went for 13 points and seven rebounds. Courtney Alexander came off the bench to chip in 12 points.
- IUP entered the contest ranked eighth in the latest WBCA Division II Top 25 poll and fourth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Poll. Edinboro is sixth in the Atlantic Region rankings.
- Following tonight's contest, IUP will be the No. 1 seed in Western Division when the PSAC Tournament begins, while Edinboro has secured the third seed. The Fighting Scots will host the sixth seed in the west on Monday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m.
- The foursome of Michelle Jahn, Jontay Walton, Barnes, and Ciara Rosten continued to add to their impressive career totals. Jahn ranks 13th all-time in career scoring with 1,350 points, while Walton moved into a tie for 16th with 1,278. Barnes climbed into 22nd with 1,213 career points. Rosten has 1,153 points, ranking 29th. Combined, the four have accounted for 4,994 points.
NEXT FOR THE FIGHTING SCOTS
- Edinboro travels to Mercyhurst for its final road game of the regular season on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. A win on Saturday would mark the ninth consecutive season the Fighting Scots have won 20-or-more games. Edinboro will be the third seed Western Division when the PSAC Tournament begins next week. The Scots will host the sixth seed in a first round contest on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
- The Fighting Scots won the first game of the season against Mercyhurst at McComb Fieldhouse, 80-70.
