Anna Leva Scores Twice As Fighting Scots Fall To Saint Leo, 17-6

The Short Story:  Despite holding Saint Leo to just six goals in the second half, the Edinboro women's lacrosse team fell 17-6 to the Lions on Saturday afternoon. The game was played at a neutral site in Myrtle Beach. The Fighting Scots fall to 0-2 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saint Leo scored nine goals in the first 19 minutes to jump out to the lead. 
  • Anna Leva scored a pair of goals in less than a minute to pull the Fighting Scots back to within seven at 9-2 with nine minutes left in the first half.
  • After four minutes of scoreless action, the Lions scored a pair of goals to take a 11-2 lead heading into the half. 
  • Saint Leo scored three times and Edinboro scored twice in the first six minutes of the second half. Sidney Dobbins scored off a free-position shot with Sophie DePalma scoring unassisted. 
  • Abi Kuntz scored her first goal of the season with just under four and a half minutes left in the game while Mary Uplinger scored her second with 1:36 left. 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Edinboro finished the game with 25 shots compared to 35 for the Lions. The Fighting Scots outshot Saint Leo in the second half 14-12. Uplinger, Leva, and DePalma each totaled six shots to lead the team. 
  • Five different Fighting Scots put the ball in the cage led by Leva's two goals. Kunz, DePalma, Dobbins, and Uplinger all scored a goal each. 
  • Candace McDole made four saves while allowing nine goals to fall to 0-2 on the season in goal. Kaitlyn Binotto was in net for the Fighting Scots for nearly 37 minutes while making six saves and allowing eight goals. Christina Glutter made her first collegiate appearance with 4:43 left in the game while facing no shots and allowing zero goals.
  • The Lions were led by Janee DeLuca's five goals. 
  • Erin Davis earned the win after playing the first 20:13 allowing only one goal.

  • Edinboro will travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on Roberts Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 12. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
