Trio of Scots Score in 20-3 Loss to Eighth-Ranked East Stroudsburg

The Short Story:  East Stroudsburg came into Sox Harrison Stadium ranked eighth in the latest IWLCA Division II national rankings, and would show a young Edinboro squad why they were so highly-regarded. The Warriors would score the first 11 goals on the way to a 20-3 win. Edinboro received goals from Anna Leva, Sidney Dobbins, and Desiree Doucette.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • East Stroudsburg would score the first goal of the contest less than two minutes into the match 928:07) on TJ Jefferis' goal, and proceeded to score the first 11 goals of the contest. Hana Cicerelle, who finished with five goals, accounted for four of those goals.
  • Edinboro ended the ESU run when Anna Leva scored her 15th goal of the season with 2:28 remaining in the first half, making the score 11-1 at the half.
  • The Warriors would open the second half with the first five goals to go up 16-1 before Sidney Dobbins found the back of the net for Edinboro, her eighth goal of the season, at 17:51.
  • Desiree Doucette accounted for the Fighting Scots' final goal at 8:52.          
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Edinboro received a goal apiece from Anna Leva, Sidney Dobbins, and Desiree Doucette. Leva, a redshirt freshman, now has a team-high 15 goals and 19 points.
  • East Stroudsburg had ten different players score goals, led by Hana Cicerelle, who contributed five goals and three assists. Juliane Fitzsimmons had three goals, with four other players scoring twice.
  • The Warriors held a 36-11 advantage in shots. In addition, Edinboro committed 28 turnovers, 20 of those in the first half, compared to 20 for ESU.
  • Both teams used three players in goal. Candace McDole started for the Fighting scots and played into the 38th minute, finishing with five saves. Kaitlyn Binotto came in and played just over 16 minutes with three saves, before being relieved by Christian Clutter, who played the last six-plus minutes, registering a pair of saves

  • Edinboro will look for win number one under first-year head coach LeighAnn Stauffer on Wednesday, March 27, playing at Gannon. That contest will get underway at 4:00 p.m. The Fighting Scots are back home three days later on Saturday, March 30, hosting Bloomsburg at 2:00 p.m.
