Leva, DePalma Notch Goals in Loss at Eighth-Ranked West Chester

The Short Story:  Edinboro was unable to overcome an early run of six straight goals by eighth-ranked West Chester. The Golden Rams remained in a tie for first place in the PSAC with East Stroudsburg at 7-1, and is now 11-2 overall. Edinboro is now 1-2 and 1-8 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Chester would score the first goal 59 seconds into the match, courtesy of Sami Barnett, and ended up jumping out to a 6-0 lead ten minutes into the match. Anna Leva cut the deficit to 6-1 with her team-leading 28th goal of the season with 15:47 remaining in the first half, assisted by Stephanie Chido.
  • The Golden Rams would score the final five goals of the first half for an 11-1 lead, and then expanded Edinboro's deficit to 14 goals at 15-1 with the first four goals of the second half.
  • Edinboro ended the WCU run as Sophie DePalma notched her 13th goal of the season, assisted by Mary Uplinger, with 13:13 remaining.      
BY THE NUMBERS
  • Anna Leva and Sophie DePalma accounted for Edinboro's goals, with Stephanie Chido and Mary Uplinger picking up assists. Leva now has a team-leading 28 goals after missing all but the first four matches last year with a season-ending injury.        
  • Nine different players scored for West Chester, led by Ryan McKinney, Sami Barnett, and Maggie Stella with three goals apiece. McKinney and Barnett added a pair of assists.      
  • West Chester held a 45-15 advantage in shots, although it was just 13-7 in the second half. Edinboro had 32 turnovers and WCU 16.     
  • Candace McDole played almost 54 minutes in goal for Edinboro before giving way to Kaitlyn Binotto, who played the last six-plus minutes. McDole would end with 18 saves. West Chester also used a pair of goalkeepers, with Julianne Clemens playing the first half to pick up the win.
