The Short Story: Sophie DePalma scored her second hat trick of the season as the Edinboro women's lacrosse team concluded their three-game home stand with a 12-7 loss to Kutztown. The Fighting Scots trailed by one at halftime before tying the score at 5-5 and 6-6 with the Golden Bears pulling away late.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kutztown jumped out to a 3-0 lead just over six minutes into the game before Edinboro got on the board with Sophie DePalma's man-up goal off an assist from Olivia Thomas at the 19:37 mark of the first half. The two teams scored back and forth for the next four goals with the Golden Bears hold a 5-3 lead.
- DePalma brought the Fighting Scots within one on her second goal of the game with 9:49 left in the first half, as Edinboro trailed 5-4 at the break.
- Abi Kunz tied the score up with 24:42 left in the game off a pass from Kandyce Graham. Kutztown would take the lead back just 34 seconds later before DePalma completed her hat trick off a free-position shot at the 22:07 mark of the second half.
- The Fighting Scots pulled within one at 8-7 off of Olivia Thomas' second goal of the game and the season off an assist from Mary Uplinger.
- The Golden Bears would solidify their lead scoring the next four goals to pick up the 12-7 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sophie DePalma netted her second hat-trick of the season after accomplishing the feat against Bloomsburg. She now has 12 for the season. Her eight assists leads the Fighting Scots this season.
- Olivia Thomas scored her first two goals of the season against the Golden Bears. She scored her first with 11:42 left in the first half and her second with 10:45 left in the game.
- Six different players scored for Kutztown led by Emily Smith's four and Cyla Cafferata's three.
- Edinboro led the Golden Bears in ground balls, 25-12, including a 13-5 advantage in the second half.
- Candace McDole tallied 16 saves, playing all 60 minutes in the cage. She increased her season total to 130.
NEXT FOR THE FIGHTING SCOTS
- Edinboro will play a pair of PSAC contest on the road next week when they travel to Slippery Rock and West Chester.
- The game at The Rock will be on Wednesday, April 10 at 4:00 p.m. before traveling to West Chester for a 1:00 p.m. game against the Golden Rams on Saturday April 13.
