Frank Scores Twice as Edinboro Wins Third in a Row with 2-1 Win at Clarion

CLARION, Pa. – Edinboro made a pair of first half goals scored seven minutes apart stand up for a 2-1 win at Clarion on Saturday night. The Fighting Scots have now won three straight matches to improve to 3-2-0 overall. More importantly, they are 3-0-0 in PSAC West action. Clarion dropped to 1-4-0 and 0-4-0, respectively.

Edinboro remained undefeated against Clarion, improving the all-time record vs. the Golden Eagles to 21-0-4.

Jessica Frank scored both of Edinboro's goals, her second and third of the season. The sophomore forward opened the scoring at 22:30, assisted by Brittnie Spithaler. Just over seven minutes later she gave the Fighting Scots a 2-0 lead, taking a crossing pass from Leah Czechowski and finding the bottom left corner of the net at 29: 54.

The score remained 2-0 at the half as Edinboro held an 11-6 edge in shots. Clarion would cut the lead in half at the 71:32 mark. Madison Spilko accounted for the goal, just the third of the season for the Golden Eagles. It came one of only two shots for Clarion in the second half.

Anna Voelker refused to allow the tying goal and would finish with four saves. Brynn Markley had 5 saves for Clarion. Edinboro ended the match with a 20-8 advantage in shots.

The Fighting Scots will return to action on Monday, September 23, hosting Mercyhurst while looking for a fourth straight win. The contest is the makeup of the match originally scheduled for September 11. Following several lightning delays that lasted almost three hours, the two teams played for seven minutes before another lightning delay. The match will be played in its entirety. The Lakers are 2-1-1 after suffering a 2-1 loss to Slippery Rock earlier today.
