Swimmers Host Shippensburg on Saturday

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro men's and women's swimming teams return to action after a long on Saturday, January 11. The Fighting Scots will host Shippensburg in a dual meet at McComb Fieldhouse beginning at 11 a.m.

The Edinboro women's swimming team shows a record of 2-1, with wins over Indiana(Pa.) and Tiffin. The men are 1-02, opening the year with a win over IUP. Shippensburg's men's team is 4-1, while the women's team is 4-3.

The Fighting Scots last competed on December 5-7 in the Wooster Invitational, where they turned in a number of strong performances. The women came in third while the men were sixth. Most notable, Katelyn Kopacko broke her own school record in the 50-yard freestyle for the women with a time of 22.93. That is an NCAA B qualifying mark. Yana Miletska set the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke. He time of 2:17.89 is an NCAA B qualifying time, as is her time of 1:03.35 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Finally, the 200-yard freestyle relay set the school record at the meet. The foursome of Makayla Scheu, Kaitlyn Daiger, Nicole Kadlecik, and Kopacko posted a school record time of 1:35.49. It was also a meet and pool record.

A total of 14 women and 11 men have posted qualifying times for the PSAC Championships in late February. Freshman Paige Smith has qualified in six different events, and Miletska in five. On the men's side, Nick Bradford is a qualifier in six events, with freshman John Dorobish qualifying in four.
