EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro (8-6) women fell to a second half penalty against Gannon (10-2-2) in a highly competitive and physical matchup.
Gannon began the game on the front foot with six shots in the first ten minutes, Anna Voelker was equal to the four that found the target. Edinboro got a foothold in the game later in the half, having three shots of their own to end the first half strong.
The Fighting Scots most clear cut chance came in the second half on the 53rd minute mark, Morgan Wissner was able to get wide and provide a cutback to Claire Crossley that just missed wide right of the goal.
The only goal of the game was scored from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute when Taylor Lewis was brought down. The resulting penalty was converted by Megan McCartney.
Gannon were able to control the game to its conclusion to Edinboro's frustration after a hard fought performance that deserved more from the game.
Edinboro will be back at Sox Harrison Stadium Saturday, Oct. 30 Kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. where they take on Slippery Rock.
