Edinboro, Pa. - In a game that had 20 lead changes, Edinboro men's basketball team came out on top by defeating Roberts Wesleyan College 83-82, on a game-winning shot from Deontae Robertson. With the win, the Fighting Scots improve to (2-1) and the Red Hawks fall to (1-2).
With 10 seconds remaining in the second half Edinboro inbounded the ball underneath their basket as they were trailing 80-82, after Amari Lee of Roberts Wesleyan stepped out of bounds. Robertson received the inbound pass near the right wing and immediately shot from three with two defenders in his face. As Robertson's shot hit the bottom of the net, McComb Fieldhouse erupted while the Fighting Scots went ahead of the Red Hawks 83-82 with less than 10 seconds remaining.
The Red Hawks raced down the court to put up a shot, when Dominique Keyes recorded a game-winning block to secure the victory.
In the second half the two teams continued to swap lead changes until the very end. With nine lead changes down the stretch, Edinboro biggest lead of 5 came after a huge dunk by Robertson with 15:13 left in the second half. In the final six minutes of the game no team could build more than a two-point lead.
The first half was just as close as the second, and consisted of nine lead changes, with the Fighting Scots trailing the Red Hawks 46-47 at the break.
Kierell Green led Edinboro recording a double-double with a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. He added three steals and one block.
Roberton's game winning shot allowed him to finish with 23 points and five rebounds, along with four assists and two blocks.
Jaryn Simpson added 18 points and a team-high five assists. Dominique Keyes grabbed 10 rebounds, along with six points and a game-high three blocks.
Edinboro will remain idle until their next game on Nov. 30 when they travel to Lake Erie College for a 3 p.m. tip.
