Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Defeats East Stroudsburg in a High-Scoring Shootout

Edinboro, Pa – Three Fighting Scots combined for 75 points, including 30 points from Jaryn Simpson as the Edinboro men's basketball team defeated East Stroudsburg 101-87 on Saturday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse.

With less than a minute to play in the game, Deontae Robertson would add the exclamation point to Edinboro's victory with a sweet fastbreak dunk. Edinboro finished the game out by sustaining at least a 10-point lead for the final two minutes and refused to let the Warriors come back.

Edinboro came firing out of the gates to begin the game. The Fighting Scots found success in breaking the East Stroudsburg full court press. Edinboro never trailed in 40 minutes of competition. In the first six minutes Edinboro jumped out to an early lead, including a 17-2 run.

Both teams had to dive deep into their respective benches as the first half accounted for 25 total team fouls. Edinboro would take advantage of their size and double the number of points in the paint, compared to East Stroudsburg at 30-14. Edinboro built up a 49-35 lead at the half.

Edinboro would sustain the same momentum they finished with in the first half. Midway through the second half, the Scots went on a 7-0 run to take their lead up to 17 points after layups from Robertson and Simpson, along with a block and a steal on the other end from Cyrie Coates. From that point on, Edinboro would continue to control the pace and slowly put away the Warriors from the PSAC East.

Simpson finished with a game-high 30 points on the afternoon, along with five assists and connected on three triples.

Robertson followed him with a double-double coming from 24 points and 11 rebounds, along with four steals on the defensive end.

Dominique Keyes finished with his fourth double-double of the season coming from 21 points and 17 rebounds, along with three blocks and two steals.

Edinboro has now scored over 100 points in three or more games for the first time since 2010-11 season.

Edinboro will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Kutztown at 3 p.m.
