Lock Haven, Pa. - After a road game earlier in the week, the Edinboro men's basketball team will travel once again to match up with two PSAC East teams in a back-to-back weekend. On Friday they will battle against host Lock Haven, along with Mansfield University on Saturday. Both games will have a 7:30 p.m. tip.
Four games in
Edinboro has now played in four non-conference games this season and currently hold a (2-2) record. The Fighting Scots have wins against Bluefield State and Roberts Wesleyan which were both decided by less than ten points. Edinboro has yet to lose this season when they shoot better than 45 percent from the field and score 80 or more points.
Last time out
In Edinboro's previous game on Tuesday, they fell to Lake Erie College 79-65. Lake Erie came out scoring at high level in the first half and built a substantial lead over the Fighting Scots as they led by 25 points at halftime.
Edinboro began to gain some momentum in the second half after a steal by Dominique Keyes which then led to a dunk by Kierell Green. This play jumpstarted a 9-2 run to finish the game and allowed Edinboro to outscore Lake Erie by 11 points in the second half.
Keyes led Edinboro with 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
Green recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lock Haven Scouting Report
Lock Haven University is a member of the PSAC East conference and will be Edinboro's first opponent in the PSAC crossover series. The Bald Eagles come into the match up undefeated at (3-0). Much like Edinboro, Lock Haven has two wins that were by five or less points.
In Lock Haven's previous match up, they defeated Holy Family University 67-64. By connecting a few free throws late, the Bald Eagles were able to close out a gritty win. The difference in the game was Lock Haven converting from the free throw line. The Bald Eagles shot 88.2 percent for the game compared to their opponent's 57.1 percent.
MarkAnthony Fidelis led Lock Haven with a team-high 24 points, while connecting on four three-pointers.
He was followed by Jesse McPherson who finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. Daquan Granberry was another Bald Eagle player who finished with double figures when he matched McPherson with 11 points.
Mansfield Scouting Report
Mansfield University is also a part of the PSAC East and will be Edinboro's second match up in their back-to-back weekend. The Mountaineers come into the competition with an overall record of (1-5). Mansfield and Edinboro have shared a mutual opponent already this season in Roberts Wesleyan College. The Fighting Scots were victorious 83-82 and the Mountaineers were defeated 94-84.
In Mansfield previous match up, they defeated Mercy College 79-61 and gained their first win of the season. The Mountaineers had a solid overall win and had five players in double figures. Mansfield had a 12-point lead at the half, and began the second half with a huge 12-6 run.
The Mountaineers were led by redshirt freshman Justice Smith. Smith had a team-high 19 points along with seven rebounds, and four assists. Jaz Farrell contributed 13 points.
They were followed by Scott Woodring, Idris Ali, and Eli Alvin who all finished with 12 points.
