Mansfield, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team dropped a 53-46 decision to host Mansfield Saturday evening in PSAC play at Decker Gymnasium.
The Scots trailed 45-40 with 2:55 to play, but a pair of
Monica Brown free throws and a
Hayley Sims 3-pointer tied the game at 45 with 1:05 remaining.
The Mounties got a triple from Sydney Reed to spark an 8-1 run to close out the game and set the final score.
The teams traded scores early playing to a 10-10 tie through the first four minutes of the game. Edinboro closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 16-10 after the first quarter.
In the second, the Scots led by as many as eight, 22-14, after a pair of
Ashten Boggs free throws with 6:28 left in the quarter.
Mansfield answered with the next five points to trim the lead to 22-19.
Lauren Mullen scored for the Scots to push the advantage to 24-19 at the half.
The Scots were paced by a pair of double-doubles. Sims notched 14 points and 10 rebounds while
Gillian Fisher tallied 13 points and 10 boards.
The Scots are back in action on Thursday Dec. 16 when they host Bloomsburg at McComb Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
