EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro Women's Soccer (3-0) won their third straight game Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win away at PSAC rivals IUP.
- The match saw Edinboro have 21 shots at goal with 8 finding the target compared to their opponents 11 attempts with eight on goal. Edinboro were able to use the pressure on goal to their advantage securing the victory with two goals and a clean sheet
- Edinboro were able to control much of the game in important areas of the field, in what was their most complete performance thus far
- First half pressure resulted in Freshman Morgan Wissner netting her third goal of the season in as many games. The goal was well assisted by Britnnie Spithaler on the 33-minute mark
- Wissner led the team in shots on goal with three and Maggie Hays mustered two
- The second half was a stalemate until the 85th minute when Lexi Boyk was able to score her first of the season to seal the win
- Anna Voelker was again pivotal in the defensive stand registered eight saves to continue her impressive start to the season
- Edinboro led in shots through half one, 8-7; but took over in the second half in which they held a 13-4 advantage
- For the game, Edinboro led in shots, 21-11
- Edinboro held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1
- The Fighting Scots were ranked fourth regionally headed into this week, having now beat #12 Notre Dame College and #14 IUP
This sees the Fighting Scots remain unbeaten overall and in PSAC play with games coming thick and fast. Notably beating a nationally ranked opponent as they look forward to their next game on Wednesday to contiue their impressive start.
Edinboro goes back to the pitch at home, Wednesday Sept. 15, for a 6 p.m. matchup with Cal (Pa.).
