EDINBORO, PA - The Fighting Scots (3-0) were up against the Vulcans of Cal Pa. (0-3).

Maggie Fragapane seeing The Vulcans goalkeeper up to the test early on.
Marissa Shields was alive to a break away a couple minutes later from a counterattack to ensure a one-on-one resulted in no danger.
Lexi Boyk and
Brittnie Spithaler were involved heavily early as well as the overlapping fullbacks
Marissa Shields and
Mary Sinan who were looking to join the attack when possible.

Maggie Fragapane's second shot of the game. The next corner saw a header from
Reece Enochs saved by the Vulcans goalkeeper.
18-minutes left in the half saw

Anna Voelker was called upon again with five minutes of the half remaining when a free-kick was redirected at goal but the Fighting Scots keeper was equal to it.
The last action of the half saw

The second half began in similar fashion to the first when

The Edinboro pressure was met with a stubborn Cal (Pa.) defence throughout the half with clear chances hard to come by.
The Vulcans disrupted Edinboro's momentum where possible with the foul total tallying up for both teams. A red card was brandished for over aggressive play by Ashley Venezia receiving her second yellow in the 65th minute.

The final period of the game saw the Edinboro onslaught finally result in a winning goal.
Layne Kimple fired in her first goal of the season, when a looping cross went over the Vulcans goalkeeper and was deemed to have crossed the line before
Maggie Hays eventually touched the ball to make sure there was no doubt for the Edinboro win.
The game saw 24 shots on goal from the Fighting Scots to the Vulcans five. Emily Ouimet of Cal (Pa.) registered 12 saves in the game from a standout performance.
Anna Voelker saw her third shutout of the season sealed with three saves.
A well-deserved victory finally came after a tough test, which, will stand the Fighting Scots in good stead for their upcoming fixtures as they look to keep improving on their now 4-0 start to the season.
The game plan was to try and press as much as we could to wear them down. Cal showed they were a strong team and at times we found it hard to match the physicality up top. Our wide play was good throughout but their goalkeeper was on form with us creating many opportunities but unable to finish. This shows what the PSAC is about and why it is voted the third toughest to play in with no easy games and proving record doesn't matter.
For a team that isn't ranked often we made sure we turned up with desire and we were focused on the task at hand. We will take each game as it comes, we showed up ready to fight set by the great leadership, team effort and team chemistry we have.
