Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

VB | RECAP | Edinboro volleyball sweeps opening weekend tournament of season; Alicia Eldredge named to all-Cal Vulcan Invitational team

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro Fighting Scots volleyball team picked up where they left of Friday evening, matching their previous day's win total, and starting off the season 4-0. They only dropped one set the entire weekend, in game three against Bloomsburg.

The tone was set by veteran Scot Alicia Eldredge, who was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.

"Alicia had a big weekend for us and made the all-tournament team. Bella, Abby Monn, Sally Sterkel did a nice job offensively. On the defensive side we had Syd and Erica making some big stops along with Alicia playing some of her best defense. Carly and Emmy also did a nice job behind the block and in serve receive. We are just a young group, and they are eager to learn and get on the court."

-Head Coach Missy Soboleski

We were aggressive at the net which put our opponents on their heels and allowed our defense to keep us in system and ultimately run the offense. We will continue to work on controlling our side of the court and hope to keep improving as we move forward."

"This weekend was a great start for us. We are a young team with a veteran setter, Alicia. There is not a setter I would rather have, than Alicia, guiding us back on the court after such an uncertain time for us over the last year and a half. Her volleyball IQ along with her athleticism makes her not only a great setter but an offensive threat."

-Head Coach Missy Soboleski
