Greensburg, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball team pushed conference leading Seton Hill but came up short 79-68 Monday night in PSAC West action.
The Scots held a 62-61 advantage after a
Rana Elhusseini layup with 8:32 to play in the fourth, but Seton Hill held the Fighting Scots to just two field goals over the final eight minutes part of an 18-6 run to close out the game.
Seton Hill jumped out 7-0 in the first quarter, before the Scots went on an 11-3 spurt to take an 11-10 advantage.
Lauren Mullen hit a triple and the Griffins scored a pair of layups to knot the game 14-14 after the first.
In the second, the teams traded the lead and came to a 26-26 tie with 4:44 to play in the frame.
Macie Jarrett scored the next five for Edinboro sparking a 12-0 run capped by a
Lauren Mullen triple putting the Scots up 38-26 at the 1:16 mark of the second. Seton Hill closed the gap to 40-31 with a 5-2 spurt to close the half.
Four different Scots reached double figure scoring led by 12 each from
Bella Burrelli and
Gillian Fisher. Elhusseini and
Monica Brown each chipped in 10.
Cheyenne Trest paced the Griffins with 21 points. Katie Nolan added 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to IUP for 5:30 p.m. tipoff with the Crimson Hawks.
