Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Soccer falls 2-0 at Gannon

Erie, Pa. – The Fighting Scots fell to the Golden Knights on Wednesday afternoon, with a goal in each half sealing the result for the home team. Edinboro had promising spells in the game but were pegged back on two occasions as the game slipped away in the second half.

Kaylee Lauriel was called upon in the opening minute as Gannon looked for a quick start. Logan Nicklas fired a shot to the center of the goal that was saved well by Lauriel.

Edinboro were much the better team thereafter in the opening exchanges of the game. A high line by Gannon was evident early on with the Boro attackers looking to break the offside trap.

Edinboro were called for offside six times in the opening half, but found some success with Reece Enochs, Lexi Boyk and Megan Malits having attempts at goal.

Gannon broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, with Holly Gray keeping a Golden Knights attack alive and finishing a half volley from 12 yards out.

Clare Crossley came close to replying before the half was over. Some good trickery found Crossley a yard of space but the resulting shot was saved by Kennedy Solymosi.

Edinboro continued to search for an equalizer in the second half, with a couple of corner kicks presenting some dangerous opportunities.

Gannon replied with some counterattacking play of their own and found the game snatching second goal in the 65th minute. Gabby Boden finishing into the bottom right corner.

Edinboro had seven attempts in the game with two finding the target. Kaylee Lauriel had six saves from the eight attempts of Gannon that were on target.

The Fighting Scots travel to Buffalo on Saturday afternoon for an out of conference matchup with D'Youville, with kick off set for 1 p.m.
