Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hays and Malits double fires Soccer to victory at D’Youville

Buffalo, N.Y. – The Fighting Scots earned their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon. In blustery conditions Edinboro were able to control much of the game, two long range efforts from Maggie Hays and Megan Malits sealed the 2-0 win for the Scots.

A dominant performance by Edinboro saw them have 13 attempts to D'Youville's two. Edinboro forced six saves from the Saints goalkeeper, whilst Kaylee Lauriel and the Edinboro defense ensured no attempts were made on the Boro goal.

Edinboro came closest in the first half to breaking the deadlock, Megan Malits saw an effort crash off the crossbar in what was a difficult half due to high winds and rain.

Boro adjusted throughout the game with every player contributing well when they entered the field. Jenna Jackson provided calming control in the midfield and helped push Edinboro forward with the ball.

Maggie Hays got the opener in the game from a driven strike that was fired into the top right corner of the goal. This was Hays' first goal of the season after coming close on numerous occasions. The goal was well deserved in the game and saw Edinboro grow in confidence.

Megan Malits doubled the lead just four minutes later when Jenna Jackson found Malit's on the edge of the penalty area, Malits cut back on to her right foot and curled a shot into the same corner as Maggie Hays just minutes earlier. Malits is now tied in scoring for Edinboro with her third goal of the season.

Edinboro didn't let up in their performance and continued to control possession for the remainder of the second half. Tireless running from Reece Enochs epitomized the Boro performance up to the final whistle.

A welcome victory for Edinboro, as they look ahead to IUP on Wednesday evening at Sox Harrison Stadium, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
