Fairmont, W. Va.-- The Edinboro men's basketball team opened the season with a 101-70 loss on the road to Fairmont State University. Kierell Green led all scorers with 22 points on a perfect nine-for-nine from the field.
With 10:20 left in the first half, Harlyn Owens connected on a jumper in the paint for Edinboro. The game's next basket would come from Green on a three-pointer as the Fighting Scots cut the Falcon's lead to just seven points.
Later in the half Dominique Keyes found Green in the paint for a dunk with 4:30 left. The halftime score was 57-31 in favor of the Falcons. The Fighting Scots ended the first half on 50% shooting from the field.
In the second half Edinboro was able to connect on five three-pointers and 15 field goals. Right out of the gates, Naim Miller found Green for another three-pointer with 19:23 to play.
Later, a steal from Easton Fulmer turned defense into offense as Owens connected on the layup on the other end. Within one minute of play the Scots strung together three consecutive three-pointers, with two from Fulmer and one from Green.
