Rochester, NY. -- With five players in double figures, the Edinboro men's basketball team earned their first road win of the season on Monday night. The Fighting Scots defeated Roberts Wesleyan College 87-77. Edinboro won their second consecutive game and now are an even (2-2) overall in the young season.
Early in the first half Edinboro went on a 7-0 run to grab a 12-7 with 15:05 to play. The run had finishes at the rim for Will Taylor and Jack Gallagher. In the same run, Kierell Green turned a steal into a and-one at the other end.
Later in the first half the Scots constructed another 7-0 run after falling behind. Green connected on a three-pointer, while Gallagher finished another tough shot at the rim.
Green continued to put his talented offensive skill set on display in the first half. Green led the Scots with 17 first-half points after closing the period with two dunks and two jumpers. Edinboro led at halftime with a 45-38 score.
Edinboro jumped out to another great start in the second half. Early on, the Scots strung together a smooth 8-0 run to build a strong 13-point lead. Dominique Keyes built momentum with a layup and free throws, Green and Taylor continued their success around the rim with efficient attacks.
With under six minutes to play, Edinboro continued to attack the rim with poise. Another layup from Gallagher was followed up by a jam from Taylor, as the Scots slowly pulled away with an 18-point lead.
Edinboro shot a proficient 47.6% from the field including a dominant 48-point performance in the paint. The Scots shot 73% from the charity stripe and made six free throws in the final two minutes to disable a late comeback effort by the Red Hawks.
Green finished with a game-high 21 points, along with seven rebounds and a perfect five-for-five from the line.
Taylor provided 20 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Keyes recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Gallagher added 15 points and six assists, while Harlyn Owens followed with 14 points.
Edinboro will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Salem University at 4pm inside McComb Fieldhouse.
