Shepherdstown, Wv. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team fell to Shepherd University 80-61 on Saturday night inside the Butcher Center. With the loss, the Fighting Scots fell to (2-5) overall.
Early in the first half Edinboro found themselves up 6-2 after back-to-back three-pointers from Kierell Green. With 12:22 to play in the half the Scots held strong with a 15-12 lead after baskets by Jack Gallagher and Naim Miller.
Shepherd then stole the momentum with a 7-0 run and quickly found themselves with a four-point lead. With only a minute left in the half, Edinboro converted on back-to-back baskets around the rim from Dominique Keyes and Will Taylor.
After shooting 40.74 % from the field, Edinboro was down 28-35 at the break.
The second half was a battle from deep between the two PSAC schools. The two teams combined for 16 triples in the final half of the game.
For Edinboro Green, Miller and Keyes each connected from three in the opening minutes of the second half. The splurge of three-pointers kept the Scots within four points of the Rams. Down the stretch Miller and Bryce Spriggs each hit two more shots from beyond the arc for Edinboro.
The Scots conversion from deep wasn't enough for them to grab a lead in the second half. as Shepherd outscored Edinboro by 12 points and and connected on nine three-pointers in the final half.
Green led all scorers with 22 points and added in eight rebounds.
Miller contributed 13 points and four rebounds to Edinboro's play.
Edinboro will be back in action on Sunday (Dec. 18) when they host Lock Haven University at 3 p.m.
