Bloomsburg, Pa.-- The Edinboro men's basketball team earned their second consecutive win, on Friday afternoon inside Nelson Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots defeated Bloomsburg University 71-62 behind 20 points from Naim Miller. With the win, Edinboro is now (4-6) on the season.
Early in the first half Miller got the Scots going with eight consecutive points to cut the Huskies lead to just one point. Later, with 8:35 remaining in the first half Jayden Harper would connect on back-to-back three pointers to put Edinboro ahead 21-20 for the first time all game.
Near the end of the first half Will Taylor broke loose for a layup at the rim to extend the lead to eight points. The Scots led 33-27 at halftime and shot 35.5% from the field.
Edinboro shot out of the second half with six straight points from Dominique Keyes in the paint. The Scots' quick start suddenly put them ahead by 10 points on the Huskies. Later, with 9:38 remaining Miller hit a smooth pull up jumper to keep Edinboro ahead 50-43.
The Scots earned their largest lead of the afternoon after back-to-back finishes at the rim from Kierell Green and Keyes, Edinboro led 62-50. Bloomsburg continued fighting and was able to construct an 8-0 run. The Huskies got within three points of the Scots down the stretch but came up short after Edinboro iced the game with free throws.
Miller finished with a team-high 20 points along with six rebounds. Keyes went for his sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Edinboro will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to PSAC West opponent Mercyhurst University at 7:30 p.m.
