Men’s Basketball Falls to Mercyhurst

Erie, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's basketball team fell to Mercyhurst University 81-48 on Wednesday night inside the Owen McCormick Court. With the loss, the Fighting Scots fall to (4-7) overall.

Off the opening tip it was all Mercyhurst as the Lakers jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead early. Moments later, Naim Miller would convert on a pull up jumper to put the Scots on the board.

With 16:25 left in the half, Edinboro strung together a strong 5-0 run. Miller would connect on a deep three-pointer, which was followed by a steal from Kierell Green which turned into a basket for Dominique Keyes. Keyes's basket would cut the Laker's lead to just six points.

From there the game took an interesting turn; neither team would score a single point for over seven minutes of play.

With 1:38 to play until the break, Green would find Miller for another triple. Edinboro went into halftime trailing the Lakers 39-22.

Mercyhurst continued to have success on the offensive end as the second half began. The Lakers started the half on a 17-7 run to extend their lead to 27 points.

With 6:01 remaining in the game Jack Gallagher found Keyes for a highlight dunk. The Edinboro dunk put Keyes into double figures.

Mercyhurst would take the first of two PSAC West showdowns with an 81-48 final.

Miller finished with a team-high 14 points along with three triples from beyond the arc. Keyes ended with 11 points and five rebounds.

Edinboro will be back in action on Saturday when they host Shippensburg University at 3 p.m.
