Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Falls to Cal U on the Road

California, Pa – A double-double from Deontae Robertson wasn't enough as the Edinboro men's basketball team was defeated by California University of Pennsylvania 62-88, at the Convocation Center Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Scots fall to (7-14) overall and (5-11) in PSAC play.

The first basket of the game was rewarded to Edinboro's Cyrie Coates off a steal from Alex Jay in the first minute of play. As the Fighting Scots were up 2-0 early, it would be their only lead of the entire game. Next possession, Cal U hit a shot from beyond the arc to grab their first lead of the game and would continue to build upon it the rest of the afternoon.

Later in the half a three-pointer by Kameron King would cut the Vulcan's lead down to 19 points with 4:45 remaining in the half. Cal used the three-point ball as an advantage in the opening half, as they shot 8-18 from deep compared to Edinboro's 2-15. Edinboro trailed Cal 47-18 at halftime.

Edinboro played exceptionally better in the second half, outscoring the Vulcans 44-41. The Scots had great contributions from Jack Gallagher and Bryce Spriggs off the bench in the second half. Gallagher scored nine points along with five assists, while Spriggs strung together eight points and five rebounds in the final half.

The Vulcans cooled down from deep, only shooting 5-20 in the second half. At the 12:13 mark, Cal would look to slam the door after going on a quick 5-0 run. The run extended their lead to 37 points after a three-pointer and dunk.

Robertson finished with a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Gallagher contributed nine points and five assists.

Dominique Keyes followed with eight points and six rebounds in his return from injury.

Edinboro will be back in action on Monday when they host Gannon University at 7:30 p.m.
