Edinboro, Pa – A double-double from Terrence Moore wasn't enough as the Edinboro men's basketball team fell to Pitt-Johnstown 72-59 on Saturday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots now fall to (5-13) overall and (3-10) in PSAC play.
From the start Edinboro jumped out to a quick lead as their defense would lead to easy baskets on offense. A steal by Deontae Robertson at the 15:06 mark led to a basket by Moore, and another layup immediately after from Moore to put the Fighting Scots ahead 10-4.
With 8:09 to play in the first half, Cyrie Coates converted on a smooth layup which put Edinboro ahead 20-29 and gave them their biggest lead of the game.
Edinboro's last two baskets of the half were three-pointers from Coates and Robertson, as the Fighting Scots led the Mountain Cats 38-35 at the half.
Edinboro was efficient from the field in the first half, shooting 53% and connecting of four three-pointers. The Scot's defense held Pitt-Johnstown to 36% from the field.
The second half was a change of momentum in favor of the Mountain Cats. Pitt-Johnstown came out of the half with a 7-0 run and grabbed a quick lead. Later at the 7:08 mark, Pitt-Johnstown went on another run, this time they scored 13 unanswered points.
In the second half Edinboro's shooting percentage dropped to 27%, while the Mountain Cat's increased their shot percentage to 47% which was enough to seal the win for Pitt-Johnstown.
Moore had 12 points and 13 rebounds finishing with a double-double.
Robertson led Edinboro with a team-high 15 points, along with six rebounds.
Coates contributed 14 points on 75% shooting from the field.
Edinboro will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Clarion for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
