Clarion, Pa – Four Fighting Scots finish in double figures as the Edinboro men's basketball team was victorious over Clarion University 88-74, at Tippin Gymnasium on Monday night. The Fighting Scots improved to (6-13) overall and (4-10) in PSAC play.
Edinboro jumped out to an early lead on the road with the help of the three-point ball. The Fighting Scots were up 18-10 after two triples from Deontae Robertson and one from Kameron King.
The Fighting Scots also found success scoring in the paint, they would outscore Clarion 44-24 downlow.
Later in the first half Edinboro would go on a 13-1 run that was led by Robertson and Jack Gallagher. In the span of five minutes the Scot's lead would increase from six to 18 points, behind a combined 10 points and three steals from the two Edinboro guards. The Fighting Scots were ahead 46-35 at halftime.
In the second half, Edinboro continued to convert baskets at a high rate. The Fighting Scots came out of the break with great energy and blew the game wide open with an 11-0 run. During the run Edinboro would only miss one shot and increased their lead up to 25 points with 12:12 left to play.
Edinboro's recipe for success was turning defense into offense, specifically steals to three-pointers. The Fighting Scots recorded 13 steals and eight three-pointers and shot an efficient 55% from the field.
Robertson finished with a team-high 25 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.
Terrence Moore posted 17 points and seven rebounds.
Cyrie Coates contributed 16 points along with four rebounds and three steals.
Edinboro will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Clarion at 7:30 p.m.
