Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Wins Second Consecutive Game Over Clarion

Clarion, Pa – Efficient shooting was the difference maker for the second game in a row as Edinboro men's basketball team defeated Clarion University 71-61, at McComb Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The Fighting Scots improved to (7-13) overall and (5-10) in PSAC play.

Clarion jumped out to an early lead as the two PSAC West schools continued to trade baskets. At the 12:59 mark, a big three-pointer from Kameron King gave the Fighting Scots their first lead of the game at 14-13.

Later in the first half, the two teams would continue to trade baskets as there were 10 lead changes in the first 20 minutes of play. A jumper by Deontae Robertson and a three-pointer by Alex Jay put Edinboro ahead 40-38 at the half. The Fighting Scots shot an efficient 56% from the field in the first half.

In the second half, the two PSAC West teams continued to battle for the second straight game this week. The narrative continued on from the first half as the two teams swapped leads six times.

At the 5:37 mark late in the second half it was all even at 59-59. Suddenly Edinboro began to slam the door on Clarion with a 10-0 run. The run was well rounded as four different Fighting Scots would score during that time, including four points from Robertson.

Edinboro's defense would prevail as Clarion was held to two points in the final five minutes of play. The reigning PSAC West player of the week in Clarion's Gerald Jarmon scored 51 points on Monday. Edinboro's defense held Jarmon to 4-19 shooting on 12 points on Wednesday night.

Robertson finished with a game-high 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Cyrie Coates posted 16 points, while shooting 75% from the field.

Terrence Moore contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

Edinboro will be back in action on Saturday when they matchup against host California University of Pennsylvania at 3 p.m.
