Buckhannon, W.Va. – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team dropped their season opener 9-3 at West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon.
The Scots got a strong performance from their goalies with a combined 13 saves including 11 from
Kaitlyn Binotto.
The Bobcats jumped out a 2-0 lead after the first. West Virginia Wesleyan added the first goal of the second to push the lead to 3-0.
Kandyce Graham got the Scots on the board with an unassisted tally.
Kaitlynn Canby extended the Bobcat advantage before
Lexi Boyk trimmed the lead to 4-2. Wesleyan would add one more before the half to go up 5-2.
In the second half, the Bobcats struck first on a goal by Isabella Verona. Graham scored her second of the game to make it 6-3, but Wesleyan scored three straight to set the final.
Boyk added four caused turnovers and five groundballs to her goal.
Morgan Miletary added three groundballs.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Holy Family for a 1 p.m. start.
