Edinboro, Pa.- The 2022 Edinboro University Volleyball team will open their 2022 season by traveling to Frankfort, Kentucky for a two-day tournament on Aug. 26 and 27. On Friday, Edinboro begins the weekend with Maryville at 10 a.m. and concludes the first day with Ohio Dominican at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Scots match up with West Alabama at 9 a.m. and Kentucky State at 1 p.m.
"Our confidence is stronger than ever, and each match will require us to be on the top of our game" said head coach Missy Soboleski. "We had an amazing season last year and continue to train to fulfill our goals."
Edinboro's twenty-two wins last season were the most the program has tallied since 2017. The reigning PSAC regular season champs will return both of their First-Team All-PSAC players in setter Alicia Eldredge and outside hitter Bella Burrelli.
The Scots also return defensive specialist / libero Carly Pry who led Edinboro in aces and digs during her freshmen season. Sally Sterkel, Erica Sharp, and Natalie Pallone are also back, as the three up front were responsible for over 75% of the team's blocks.
Edinboro's roster will include the addition of five freshmen for the 2022 season. "The freshmen have really been working hard and they have molded into our culture really well," said senior Alicia Eldredge.
Last week for the preseason poll Edinboro was ranked third overall in the PSAC West, only behind Clarion and Gannon. "We just know...we have our expectations, and we keep it as a team" said junior Bella Burrelli when asked about the importance of preseason rankings.
