Edinboro Pa. -- The Edinboro volleyball team will host the D'youville College Saints in their final nonconference match before PSAC West competition begins. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13. at 6 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
Edinboro After Eleven
Edinboro has now competed in eleven matches thus far this season and holds a respectable (9-2) overall record. The Scots have gained momentum recently and have won nine of their last ten matches. This past weekend Edinboro hosted the annual Edinboro Invitational where they finished with a perfect record of (3-0). Over the course of the weekend the Scots won nine of ten sets played, as they defeated Findlay, East Stroudsburg, and West Virginia Wesleyan.
Storytelling Stats
Edinboro's offense has continued to thrive after eleven matches this season. The Scots' attack has produced 457 kills at the rate of 12.0 kills per set, with an efficient (.203) hitting percentage.
The Scot's fiery offensive attack has been led by the two headed monster of Bella Burrelli and Natalie Pallone. Pallone currently leads the team in kills at 102, while Burrelli is second with 101 on the season. Together the duo provides 5.34 kills per set to the Edinboro offense. The talented duo is typically set up by Alicia Eldredge. As a setter, Eldredge is the team's facilitator and has been responsible for almost 80% of the team's assists. Eldredge currently averages 8.76 assists per set and has 333 on the season.
The Scot's defense has had great success sabotaging the opposing team's offensive flow so far. Edinboro up on net has produced 72 blocks, equivalent to 1.9 blocks per set. In the back the Scots have went for 595 digs at 15.7 digs per set.
Edinboro's defense has also evolved into a multi-dimensional force. Starting up on the net they are led by Sally Sterkel. Sterkel leads the team with 37 blocks on the season, with a rate of 0.97 blocks per set. In the back Edinboro is led by Defensive specialist / Libero Carly Pry. Pry's natural ability to fly the ball has led her to 166 digs on the season (team-high) at a rate of 4.74 digs per set.
D'youville College
The D'youville College Saints are members of the East Coast conference and are led by head coach Jaime Snyder. The Saints come into the match with a (4-9) overall record after their recent (0-4) performance at the IUP Invitational Tournament. D'youville's last win came against Glenville University, since the Saints have dropped six-straight matches. Jaycee Karelus leads the Saints with 100 kills this season. When Edinboro last played D'youville in 2021, the Scots came away with a win in three quick sets.
