Football Makes Home Debut Against Bloomsburg

Edinboro, Pa. -- After opening the season with a pair of games on the road, the Edinboro football team will return to Sox Harrison Stadium for the first time in the 2022 season. Kickoff is set for noon.

The Game
Both teams come in with a 1-1 record. Edinboro dropped a 4-17 decsion to No. 5 Shepherd while the Huskies topped Clarion 42-3.

Streak Busters
Isaac Bernard snapped a drought of 300-yard passers for the Fighting Scots throwing for 338 on Saturday at Shepherd. The last Edinboro quarterback to throw for 300 yards was Andrew Tomko on Sept. 1, 2018 against Lake Erie.

Thaddeus Standfield also snapped a streak of 16-straight games without having a receiver top 100 yards. He hauled in seven passes for 127 yards.

Splash Plays
The Scots have used the big play to their advantage with both touchdowns this season being from over 50 yards out.

Honor Roll
Reed Martin picked up right where he left off a season ago when he earned second-team All-PSAC West punter honors. Martin punted six times and averaged 40.3 yards per punt. Four punts were downed inside the 20 including his long of 59 that came to rest at the Raven 3-yard line. For his efforts against Franklin Pierce, Martin was named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week. Martin only punted twice against Shepherd, but recorded an average of 53.5 including a 63-yarder.

Close Calls
Edinboro was 2-4 in one possession games a season ago, but the Scots flippedthe script two weeks ago making a third quarter field goal stand up in a 10-7 victory over Franklin Pierce in the opener.

Ball Control
Edinboro has held the edge in time of possession averaging four more minutes per game with the football than their
opponents.

Red Zone
Edinboro will look to improve their redzone offense. The Scots are currently 1-for-9 when moving inside the opponents 20 yard line.
Defensive Efforts
After pitching a second half shutout in the opener, the Scots defense held reigning Harlon Hill winner Tyson Bagent to a career-low 189 yards passing. The Fighting Scots sacked Bagent three times and intercepted him once. Clay Cunningham leads the Scots in tackles with 20 including 12 solo stops. He has two sacks and one interception. Not only does Reed Martin handle the
punting and kicking duties for the Scots he also is a starting cornerback making nine tackles including three tackles for loss.

Scouting the Huskies
Bloomsburg brings a 1-1 record to Sox Harrison Stadium after defeating Clarion 42-3 last Saturday. Quarterback KJ Riley was highly efficient going 11-for-13 for 258 and four touchdowns. He is now 18-for-25 for 306 and four scores on the season.Riley is also a threat with his legs as the Huskies second leading rusher with 102 yards on 20 carries. Kaleb Monaco leads the Bloomsburg rushing attack with 114 yards on 30 carries. Monaco also has three catches for 74 yards including a 62-yard touchdown against Clarion.

Defensively, Quentin Gaskil leads the Bloomsburg defense making 18 tackles through two games including a pair of sacks. Adam Burkhart and Kenny Yurkonis also have double-figure tackles with 10 a piece.
