Edinboro, Pa. – The Fighting Scots fought back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 in the second half. Pitt-Johnstown rescued a point in the 83rd minute. With no overtime for the 2022 season the points were shared after an eventful 90 minutes.
Pitt- Johnstown opened the scoring in the 8th minute when a deep free-kick was flicked on by Emily Esser taking it over
Kaylee Lauriel in the Edinboro goal.
Edinboro reacted well with numerous attacks at the Pitt-Johnstown goal.
Avery Grischow came closest when she rounded the goalkeeper but the UPJ defender was able to make a last ditch recovery tackle.
The second half saw chances fall the way of Edinboro early on.
Lexi Boyk was played through well by
Clare Crossley in the opening minutes of the half, Boyk's first time shot was saved well by Sachi Negri in the UPJ goal.
The Fighting Scots found themselves level when
Reece Enochs was played over the top by
Madison Felton. Enochs composed herself and lobbed the ball over the UPJ goalkeeper to secure her second goal of the season.
Megan Malits gave Edinboro the lead in the 67th minute, Malits fired a looping ball from out wide towards goal and it found its way in to the top right corner of the UPJ goal.
The Mountain Cats managed to stay in the game, looking most dangerous from set-pieces. Another deep free-kick was awarded in the 83rd which UPJ converted. This time MacKenzie Stephens was able to get her head to a long ball played in by Alexis Johnson to tie the game late on.
Each team had 11 attempts on goal, Edinboro had four on target with UPJ registering three. The game was broken up throughout by the match officials with eight fouls to UPJ and Edinboro tallying 18 in total.
The Fighting Scots welcome Gannon University on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium under the lights.
