Last Week
The Scots won a 10-7 defensive struggle on the road at Franklin Pierce last Saturday running their winning streak to four dating back to last season.
Anfreenee Williams finished with 101 total yards, 81 rushing and 20 receiving, to lead the offense.
Thaddeus Standfield hauled in a 58-yard touchdown.
Clay Cunningham recorded 15 total tackles including a pair of sacks to pace the defense
Reigning Harlon Hill winner Tyson Bagent led the Rams to a 48-7 victory over Southern Connecticut State in the season opener. Bagent racked up 394 yards and five touchdowns passing. Ronnie Brown rushed for 113 yards on just 10 carries. Dewayne Grantham  led the defense with eight tackles and a pair of interceptions.
Defensive Effort
Clay Cunningham led the Scot defense that held reigning North East 10 Offensive Player of the Year EJ Burgess to just 75 yards rushing. Cunningham made 15 tackles the most by a Fighting Scot in a game since Brandon Anderson racked up 19 stops against Lock Haven on Sept. 9, 2017.
After surrendering a touchdown late in the first half, Edinboro kept Franklin Pierce off the board through the second half. It was the first full half shutout since the Scots held Seton Hill scoreless in the first half on Oct. 2, 2021.
The Scot defense held Franklin Pierce without the benefit of a turnover or a special teams block. It was the first time that Edinboro has gone without forcing a turnover or blocking a kick since Oct. 13, 2018 against Slippery Rock.
Honor Roll
Reed Martin picked up right where he left off a season ago when he earned second-team All-PSAC West punter honors. Martin punted six times and averaged 40.3 yards per punt. Four punts were downed inside the 20 including his long of 59 that came to rest at the Raven 3-yard line. For his efforts Martin was named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Close Calls
Edinboro was 2-4 in one possession games a season ago, but the Scots flipped the script on Saturday making a third quarter field goal stand up in a 10-7 victory.
Four Straight
The Scots have now won four straight games after closing 2021 on three-game winning streak. Three of those four victories have come on the road and Edinboro will hit the road again this week.
