Edinboro, Pa. – After a PSAC West Coach of the Year season,
Matt Scott has departed Edinboro football to pursue another opportunity.
"We thank Coach Scott for his contributions to Edinboro football and the success both on the off the field this past season," said Director of Athletics
Dr. Katherine Robbins. "We wish him success in his future endeavors."
Scott led the Fighting Scots to a 7-4 overall record and a share of the PSAC West Regular Season Championship.
Defensive Coordinator
Eric Crandall will serve as the interim head coach. Crandall led the Edinboro defense that ranked third in the PSAC allowing 22.3 points per game and fourth in total yards per game at 333.6.
"My family and I are beyond excited to be the next leader for the Fighting Scots football program," said Crandall. "We want to thank President Anderson and Dr. Robbins for this opportunity. Our standards have not changed, and we plan to stay the course here at Edinboro. Together, our coaching staff and players are ready to build upon what we started in 2025 and intend to reach new heights in 2026 in all aspects on and off the field."
Crandall had a pair of first-team All-PSAC West selections on the defensive side of the ball in 2025 in safety
Nate Deanes and defensive lineman
JT Taylor. Prior to coming to Edinboro, Crandall spent eight years at New Haven as the linebackers coach with seven of those seasons being Special Teams Coordinator.
"There are many great days ahead for Edinboro football building on last year's success," said PennWest President Dr. Jon Anderson. "As the Interim Head Coach
Eric Crandall will lead the team with focus and intensity as we prepare student-athletes to succeed, in the classroom, on the field, and in life!"
