Clarion, Pa. – The Edinboro women's basketball continues conference play on Saturday with a trip to Tippin Gymnasium to take on Clarion at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots ran their record to 9-6 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC West with a 67-63 victory over Slippery Rock on Wednesday.
Rana Elhusseini paced the Edinboro offense with 27 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Macie Jarrett scored eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to help lift the Scots to the win.
3-Point Shooting
Edinboro has been prolific from beyond the arc taking 29.8 triples per game ranking fifth in the nation and hitting 9.3 per outing which ranks ninth in D-II. Elhusseini leads the team with 42 3-pointers on the season. Her 2.8 treys per game ranks 17
th in the nation and second in the PSAC.
Hayley Sims ranks fifth in the PSAC with 2.4 per contest.
Forcing Turnovers
The Fighting Scots have built a defensive effort focused on forcing turnovers. They rank third in Division II in turnovers forced at 26.4 per game. Their turnover margin of 9.20 ranks sixth in the nation and tops among teams in the PSAC. Elhusseini average 2.87 steals per game ranking first in the PSAC and 18
th in the country.
Scoring the Basketball
The Edinboro offense leads the PSAC and ranks 22
nd in the nation at 76.1 points per game. The Scots boast two of the PSAC's top 10 scorers with Elhusseini ranking third at 19.1 points per game and Sims checking in at seventh with 15.9.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Clarion is 3-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play after dropping a 76-53 decision at IUP on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles average 53.0 points per game while allowing 64.9. Sierra Bermudez leads the offense averaging 11.7 points per game. Ava Haddad chips in 8.7 points per game. Jada Smith is the Golden Eagles' leading rebounder at 8.8 boards per game to go with 8.3 points per outing.
