Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's basketball team hosts a pair of PSAC West games welcoming IUP to McComb Fieldhouse on Monday and UPJ making the trip to Edinboro on Wednesday. Both games are slated for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
Last Time Out
The Scots used a big third quarter to top host Clarion 67-57 on Saturday afternoon.
Rana Elhusseini scored 22 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Hayley Sims also tallied 22 points as well as grabbing three boards.
Long-Range Shooting
The Scots have been one of the nations top 3-point shooting teams. Edinboro ranks fifth in the nation in 3-pointers attempted per game 29.8 and sixth in the country in triples made with 9.2 both marks lead the PSAC. Elhusseini is second in the PSAC and is 17th in D-II with 2.8 triples per game. Sims ranks fifth in the conference hitting 2.4 treys per outing.
Stealing Possessions
Edinboro ranks third in the country in turnovers forced with 26.4 per contest. The Scots are fifth in the nation in steals per game with 13.5 per outing. They have used their ability to force turnovers to build a turnover margin of 9.2 the sixth best mark in the country. Edinboro has also turned the turnovers into points averaging 27.4 per game in points off turnovers. Elhusseini averages 2.87 steals per game ranking 18th in the nation and first in the PSAC.
Lauren Mullen and Sims are tied for 14th in the conference with 1.8 steals per game.
Scoring the Basketball
The Fighting Scots lead the PSAC in scoring averaging 76.1 points per game the 22nd best mark in the nation. Elhusseini ranks third in the conference averaging 19.1 points per game while Sims ranks seventh at 15.9.Â
Scouting the Crimson Hawks
IUP enters the contest at 13-3 overall and 8-3 in PSAC West play after topping Cal 71-65 Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Hawks average 74.2 points per game while holding opponents 60.7. Four IUP players average double-figure scoring led by 16.1 per game from Kierra Baughman. Maria Cerro adds 13.8 per game while Gina Adams and Alana Cardona each score 12.3 per contest.
Scouting the Mountain Cats
UPJ is 11-6 overall and 8-3 in the PSAC West coming off a 75-48 victory over Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Mountain Cats average 65.9 and are allowing opponents 63.1. Peyton Alazaus is the top scorer for UPJ averaging 14.4 per game. Ashley Norlin adds 12.6 points and Olivia Fasick scores 12.4. The Mountain Cats will travel to Mercyhurst on Monday. Â
