Edinboro, Pa. -- Despite 18 points and 10 rebounds from Kierell Green, the Edinboro men's basketball team fell to No. 1 IUP 79-61 on Monday night inside McComb Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Fighting Scots fall to (5-12) overall.
Off the opening tip it was Edinboro who struck first with deep three-pointer from Green on the Fighting Scots first possession. Moments later Naim Miller jumped into action with a pull-up jumper which kept the Scots up 5-4 early.
With 10:08 to go in the first, a quick run from the Crimson Hawks was capped off with a slam dunk by Jaylen Stewart as IUP led 17-11. The next two possessions Dominique Keyes would pace the Edinboro offense with back-to-back buckets.
With only a few minutes to go in the first half Green would score his sixteenth point of the game with a pull-up jumper, as Edinboro led 23-20. The Crimson Hawks would finish off the first half on a 13-2 run and held a 33-25 lead at halftime. For the half the Scots shot 32.1% from the field and connected on three triples.
IUP came out hot to start the second half with an 11-2 run including three 3-pointers for the Crimson Hawks. With 10:38 remaining in the game a big dunk from Damir Brooks increased IUP's lead to 21.
The Crimson Hawks continued at a strong pace all the way to the end as IUP prevailed with a 79-61 final.
Green finished with another double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Miller added 14 points and six rebounds.
Edinboro will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Pitt-Johnstown at 7:30 pm inside the McComb Fieldhouse.
