Swimming take 11 victories on Senior Night in victory over Clarion

Edinboro, Pa. – The Fighting Scots ensured senior night was full of top performances and celebrations thanks to 11 first place finishes. The women made it two wins in two meets against Clarion with a 115-90 result. The men dropped the result 131-66. 
 
The 200 medley relay team of Leia Ross, Lara De Carne, Stephanie Sipple and Makayla Scheu got Edinboro off to a winning start. The men's team of Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz, Jacob Bettano, Elijah Innis and Ted Kinney took second, beaten at the wall by 0.05 seconds. 
 
Paige Smith took her first victory of the day in the 1000 free with a dominant time of 10:50.77. Cara Della-Toffalo placed second at 11:19.54 with Victoria Heffelfinger taking third at 11:38.07 for a sweep of the top positions by Edinboro. 
 
Stephanie Sipple placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.49. Avery Zuk followed to take third place at 2:01.04. The men's 200 free saw Armando Apigna-Castellanos place third at 1:52.45, with Frank Barger taking fourth at 1:53.26.
 
The Fighting Scots men took first and second in the 50 free, Ted Kinney took first at 21.34, with Luke Edmonds close in second at 22.02. Makayla Scheu was narrowly beaten to first place, taking second in a time of 25.22. 
 
Paige Smith set a new lifetime best with a time of 4:37.75 in the 400 IM in a terrific individual performance. Lara De Carne finished in third place at 4:52.38, with Baila Bugara in fourth at 4:53.66. Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz followed up with a win on the men's side with a winning time of 4:27.36.
 
The 200 butterfly saw Stephanie Sipple secure another first place finish in one of her strongest events this season, touching the wall at 2:05.42. Baila Bugara place third at 2:22.36.
 
The 100 free saw Edinboro take first and third. Elijah Innis took first at 47.65, and Frank Barger took third at 49.61. Avery Zuk took second place for the women at 55.24. 
 
Leia Ross was back to winning ways after last weeks top performances. Ross took first place in the 200 backstroke at 2:08.62, and first in the 200 breaststroke at 2:24.60. Gerardo Gonzalez Ruiz took third for the men in the 200 backstroke at 2:01.75.
 
Paige Smith's third victory of the day came in the 500 free, pushing to the wall in a time of 5:15.51. Cara Della-Toffalo placed third at 5:28.40. 
 
The 200 free relay brought a close to senior night with the men winning in a time of 1:26.55. The women were just beaten to first by 0.36 seconds, with a second place finish at 1:41.00.
