Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team took down visiting Mercyhurst 3-0 Tuesday night in PSAC West action at McComb Fieldhouse.
With the scored tied 14-14 after a 6-0 Laker run, the Scots went on a 5-2 spurt of their own to grab a 19-16 advantage keyed by kills from
Jessica Hardin and
Bella Burrelli. Mercyhurst would get as close as 21-19, but kills by
Natalie Pallone, a service ace from Burrelli and a kill by Hardin helped the Scots to a 25-20 set win.
In the second tied at 6-6, a Laker service error gave Edinboro a 7-7 advantage sparking eight straight points for the Scots making it 14-6. In the run Sydney Jones tallied a pair of kills. Mercyhurst would get as close as 18-12, but the Scots held them off to take the second set 25-15.
The Scots jumped out 9-2 in the third set and never looked back winning the third 25-15.
Pallone was highly efficient finishing with 16 kills and a .520 hitting percentage. She also did work defensively recording three block assists and one solo stuff. Burrelli added nine kills while Hardin turned in six.
Abigale Soboleski and
Laney Burns each tallied 17 assists and
Carly Pry notched a team-high 12 digs.
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they travel to Gannon. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
