Volleyball Scores 3-2 Victory Over Seton Hill

Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team won a see-saw 3-2 victory over visiting Seton Hill Friday night in a key PSAC West contest inside McComb Fieldhouse.
 
In the fifth set, the teams were level at 8-8 after a Mara Yahner kill for the Griffins. The Scots scored five straight points keyed by kills from Erika Lindqvist and Makayla Neelands to build a 13-8 advantage. Katie Flohr ended the run with a kill, but Neelands  and Lindqvist again scored back-to-back kills to lift Edinboro to a 15-9 set win and the win in the match.
 
Seton Hill took the first set 25-20. After trailing 17-16 the Griffins rattled off six straight points to go up 22-17 and held off a late push by the Scots.
 
The Scots responded in the second jumping out to a 10-1 advantage out of the gate and never looking back winning the set 25-16.
 
Edinboro carried that momentum into the third jumping out 7-3, before Seton Hill with a 10-3 run taking the lead 13-9. The Scots would chip away and take a 16-15, but the Griffins scored six straight again to take a 21-16 lead. Edinboro answered with five straight of their own to knot the score at 21-21. The teams would play to a level 24-24, but kills by Bella Burrelli and Natalie Pallone gave the Scots a 26-24 win.
 
The Scots held a 20-16 advantage in the fourth, but Seton Hill closed the set on a 9-3 spurt to force the decisive fifth set.
 
Neelands led the Scots with 15 kills, Pallone added 14 and Kathryn Raschilla chipped in 11. Abigale Soboleski led the team with 33 assists while Laney Burns tallied 25. Burrelli picked up four service aces.
 
Defensively, Lindqvist was a force picking up eight blocks. Rachilla added five more and Kasey Smith tallied four stuffs. Carly Pry led the Scots with 15 digs.
 
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Mountain Cats.
