Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro men's swim team tallied a 148-63 victory over visiting Notre Dame College Friday night in the home and dual opener inside McComb Fieldhouse.
The Scots got out of the gate fast with the 200-medley relay team of
Armando Apigna-Castellanos,
Jake Hillibush,
Tommy Collins and
Ted Kinney taking the top spot in a time of 1:37.88.
Kevin Santos,
Jacob Bettano,
Brian Bell and
Frank Barger joined forces to finish second in 1:41.73.
Santos followed that up with a time of 10:28.77 in the 1000 freestyle coming in ahead of the PSAC qualifying time. Apigna took first in the 200-freestyle touching the wall in 1:51.09. He also took first in the 200-backstroke with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:00.72. His 200 IM time of 2:05.39 was good for second.
Braden Hain also finished first and qualified for PSACs with a time of 55.34 in the 100-backstroke. He also recorded a pair of second-place finishes with a time of 49.16 in the 100-freestyle and 56.71 in the 100-fly.
The Scots took the top three slots in the 100-breaststroke with Bettano posting a time of 1:02.22 touching the wall just ahead of Hillibush with a 1:02.78.
Christian Connell was next to finish with a time of 1:06.70. Collins added another first for Edinboro with a time of 1:57.89 in the 100-fly, a PSAC cut mark. Collins also picked up a first-place finish in the 500-free with a time of 5:02.58.
Kinney, Barger and
Luke Edmonds took the top three finishes in the 50-free with times of 21.46, 22.34 and 22.64 respectively.
Christian Connell was first to touch the wall in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:20.79.
The 200-free relay team of Edmonds, Barger, Kinney and Hain brought home a first-place finish to close out the meet in a time of 1:27.77.
The Scots are back in action next Friday when they host Bloomsburg at 4 p.m.
